It must be crap being Bob Banner. Caught in the heart of a Nuclear Explosion, victim of Gamma Radiation, transformed in times of stress into 7 feet of unfettered fury. And to add insult to injury he's forced to battle an endless array of elemental formulaic foes. There's Diablo, the big smoky blob, Taboo, the big muddy blob, Groot, the big stick-like one. Okay, consulting my 'Hulk' Annual 1983 aside, the guy's got problems.
It's a similar universe shared by Flimsy. Except we're dealing with too much daytime TV, exposure to household cleaning products and (I'm guessing here), too many e-numbers. I knew a boy once who was medically banned from eating blue Smarties. They sent him psychiatric. I'm inclined to think that kid grew up to be Martin Hand.
Flimsy Monsterworks is a very funny, surreal diatribe. It's kind of hard to read as each panel is crammed with Flimsy addressing his rant, staring right out of the page at you. Makes me a little nervous if I'm totally honest, but hey, I'm sold!
I think we should skip the comics and cut right to the TV show, preferably with puppets. Anyone with me? Okay, buy the comic then opinions on a postcard please.

Flimsy! Him BIG RADIOACTIVE MONSTER!!.
Him not think quick. Him.... not got a lot on at the moment. Him.... go to the supermarket & buy squishy ripe brie. Him.... have odd dreams that feature The Rt. Hon John Prescott MP...     yerse...
OK - this comic can look a little daunting as it stretches the definition of comics somewhat; being constructed of 9 panels a page featuring the head of Flimsy underneath a good size chunk of 'spoken' text. Not really bouncing dynamic visuals... The comic relies heavily on its narrative storytelling & manages this feat. The story in this issue diverges from the usual monster mayhem (ahem), instead concentrating on the internal musings of a not so busy monster.
Basically a diary piece.
Good fun. If I were a Marvel head I'm sure it would be funnier, but as it is, I like it's idiosyncrasy & it muses & amuses.
